Pula Moscow
Nine goals in a single World Cup match
Pula holds the record for most goals by a player in a FIFA Futsal World Cup match, with nine. It happened on 6 October 2008, at the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasília, in Russia's 31-2 win over the Solomon Islands, and Guinness World Records recognises the mark.
The match
The 31-2 was the biggest rout in FIFA Futsal World Cup history, surpassing Brazil's 29-2 over Guatemala in 2000. Pula scored nine and Sirilo, another naturalised Brazilian, scored six.
In March 2024, sixteen years later, the Liga Nacional de Futsal still listed the match among the biggest wins in the tournament's history. In April 2024, FIFA still had Pula's nine goals at the top of its list of most goals by a player in a World Cup match.1,2,3,4
